The in-house programme is included in the fees but optional activities such as trips out, hairdressing and some craft activities do carry a small charge. These, as well as outings, hairdressing, chiropody, pub club, manicures and other charges can all be added to the monthly account.
Weekends at Oaktree tend to be the time when we welcome the majority of our residents' family and friends. Activities are therefore run around such visits to optimise the these precious times.
OUT & ABOUT AT OAKTREE!
Oaktree Lodge regularly hires the local community minibus in order to provide our residents with the opportunity to take trips out and about and go further afield. This comfortable minibus is spacious and ideally suited to our purposes, even having the facility to take wheelchairs. For more local trips, such as pub club and our annual Christmas Lunch, residents are transported in cars.
At Oaktree the standard monthly programme is designed to offer choice and diversity to suit the needs and tastes of our residents and most importantly encourage socialisation.
In addition to the monthly programme we regularly run special events to mark celebrated days such as St Andrews, St Georges, May Day, Wimbledon, The Grand National, Burns Night etc. We try to fill the whole day with relevant activities, food and entertainment.
Days out and lunch trips also form an important part of the schedule. We have visited Weston-Super-mare for a seaside treat, The Zoo, Cheddar and Chew Valley and the Little Harp is a favourite lunching haunt. We also offer frequent trips to local garden centres and nurseries which are always popular.
Most residents thoroughly enjoy a sing-along, so to maintain the variety and satisfy all tastes we book choirs, school children, pianists, War era shows, Music halls shows, ‘City Limits' duos and even an in-house Christmas Panto. All of the above are enjoyed with a drinks trolley.
Seasonal Activities include: gardening, jewellery making, arts and crafts, knitting, flower arranging, decoration making, fancy dress fun, and reminiscence.

The Care Manager writes a social care plan for every permanent Oaktree resident, to make sure needs are met and preferences are catered for. This is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure our high standards are maintained.
